We Fight Monsters

Operation Margaritaville

$10.00

We've got an urgent need to meet.  Last summer, a disheveled woman walked up to our crew on the block and simply said "I'm tired".  If you've worked with sex trafficked women or addicts, those two words are the strongest in the English language.  They carry a nuance and an urgency few outside our circles understand.

We jumped into action, secured her, her belongings, and secured her a bed in a safe place.  Her road to recovery was a long one.  Four months inpatient before being moved to our women's house.  She'd been drunk for 40 years.

The situation at the motel we tracked her back to, and found her daughter in, was dire.  A much larger lift than anticipated.  Without going into detail, that's an ongoing operation that's still touch and go.

On January 17th of 2024, that woman, Ms Marguerite, wasn't acting like herself, and our crew suspected a stroke.  An ambulance was called, she was taken to the hospital, who left her in a hall all night before discharging her back to us the next day.

The next day, Ms Marguerite's right side went numb, face paralyzed, another ambulance and NOW the hospital takes us seriously.  Total of three transient ischemic attacks (so far) and her right side is completely paralyzed.

Marguerite didn't leave that life behind her only to lose her new life to some BS like this, and she's hellbent on leaving her past life where it is - in the past.

She doesn't want to leave the sober living house we have her in, but we aren't equipped to meet her needs in that house, which has stairs and no onsite caregiver.

That means we're needing to open another women's house, one for disabled survivors where we can have onsite caregiver access, in-house meetings, and the like.

We've identified a few properties that will fit the bill and have room for three more women @ $1,650/mo, onsite round the clock caregiver is going to be pricey, BUT we believe Ms Marguerite's insurance will cover hers.  We need to come up with roughly $3,000 in monthly donations to be able to keep this house open, with utilities, food, etc.  We need roughly $7,000 in one-time donations to cover the deposit, first month's rent, and furnish it.

Please help us keep Ms Marguerite safe and sober, and help us do the same for a couple more disabled survivors!

We Fight Monsters

We Fight Monsters is a sister 501(c)(3) Non Profit to Flanders Fields, to carry their mission to those encountered on the streets, on the dope track, in the prisons and in the hell of addiction or sex trafficking who aren't veterans. Nobody on the Flanders team will step over the dead bodies of civilians to save a vet, but within the confines of the charter, funding can only be allocated to veterans. The need to stand up a second org focused on non-veteran funding for rescues and recoveries was immediately apparent, and to date, the Flanders team has been funding these efforts out of their own pockets, but no more!

We are here to restore life to those who were once dead to their addictions and the streets, for we were once the dead ourselves.
