Operation: SPARROW began with one woman, a single mission to rescue a former Army Drill Sergeant who had been raped while stationed in Germany in the 90's and ended up OTH'd out of the Army because she wouldn't stay quiet. From that point, her life spiraled into addiction, which led to prostitution, which led to sex trafficking.
While we weren't able to save this one, we encountered and befriended a wide swathe of women in her shoes that weren't vets, but needed our help nonetheless.
This operation is for her, for them, and for women like them. Women that have found themselves in over their heads and need folks unafraid of confronting the evils that keep them bound.
Its name comes from Matthew 10:29-31, which reads "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground unperceived by your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows"
So many girls are sold into this life by addicted parents and find themselves still stuck in it decades later. Others start down that slippery slope during their own addiction. Regardless of how they find themselves there, we are here to get them out when they are willing and ready---no matter the risks involved.
