Ben and Jess’s Story

From addiction and chaos to a life spent rescuing others.

The Short Version

Ben and Jess hit rock bottom and nearly lost everything. When there was no hope left, they reached out to God and promised to come back and rescue others if they could be saved.  This began their hard work of recovery. Over time, they found restoration, purpose, and a calling to go back into the darkness to pull others out. Today they lead We Fight Monsters, coordinating with Law Enforcement (LE), clinicians, and community partners to rescue victims, accelerate recovery, and build long-term restoration.

The Long Story

Before

A slow slide into addiction. Shame, secrecy, burned bridges. The people who loved them did not know how to help, and they did not know how to ask.

Rock Bottom

The moment when the costs were no longer ignorable. Isolation. Legal and health risks mounting. The realization that continuing meant losing their life.

Turning Point

A conversation that cut through the fog, a door opened by someone who would not give up, and a decision to accept help. This is where courage began: admitting the truth, choosing safety, and stepping into care.

Recovery

Detox and stabilization, then months of structure with therapy, accountability, and new rhythms. Clean-up, making amends the right way, rebuilding trust one honest day at a time.

Restoration

Work, mentors, community, and faith, all to learn that purpose is stronger than shame. They went from surviving to serving.

The Call

If rescue saved Ben and Jess’s life, purpose gave it direction. They chose to fight for people still trapped. That choice became We Fight Monsters.
